Planning to Live Life, Not Control Life!

4th of July Quarantine Menu

2020 has been quite a year! Here we are with 4th of July coming up. We would have been camping last week as it is our tradition to do it before the 4th. Also, no family party on the 4th. I have conquered the decorating. Next up, the menu. It is just the two of us, but I want it to seem like it is family and friends. It did make our grocery budget spike, but here is a 4th of July Quarantine Menu.

This menu did have my husband’s input and has some favorites in it for him. I have extra prep and work involved but I am so glad to make our meal yell, HOLIDAY!!!

Pre-4th Picnic Menu Plan

4th of July Quarantine Menu - picnic setupMany of us have July 3rd as the observed holiday but my hubby is working. I am planning a picnic for his lunch hour that can always move and become lunch for the 4th if necessary. We have some gluten free bratwurst from Costco that is filler for the times that we do not have these main meals scheduled.

Healthy Hot Garlicky Wings

4th of July Quarantine Menu - wings
Super Garlicky Wings!

We are trying this recipe for the first time. For this dish, I need to replace the Italian breadcrumbs with gluten free breadcrumbs. I do have to add Italian Seasoning as I could only get the plain version.

German Style Potato Salad

4th of July Quarantine Menu - picnic plateMy husband is of German heritage and asked that I make that style of potato salad for the picnic. I did double-ask as he tends to disappear when I have vinegar out. He wants it grandma style and he will get it 😊. No changes are needed to make it gluten free if you verify your brand of bacon. Bacon has many brands across the nation, so I may need you to check that out yourself. Yummmmm, bacon!

Cowboy Cookies

4th of July Quarantine Menu - Cowboy CookiesI am going to make my cowboy cookie recipe and add red, white, and blue M&Ms. I could only find Peanut Butter M&Ms in the holiday colors, so I may need to sneak in some chocolate chips also. By the way, most M&Ms are gluten free.

Strawberry Lemonade

Cheers!

As I want to jazz up our picnic beverage and it is not the right time to drink. I am planning on making strawberry lemonade and if the picnic time changes, it would not hurt to add a bit of Tito’s vodka.

4th of July Dinner Plan

Slow Cooker BBQ Ribs

4th of July Quarantine Menu - Ribs and CornI mentioned ribs to the hubby, and he was so happy. We have been eating a little boring lately to keep costs down. It is worth the extra groceries to make the sauce in this recipe. I have made it before but it has been awhile. When I asked Grant if he wanted dry ribs or crockpot ribs, he said whatever you did when you made the crockpot ribs, do it again!

Corn on the Cob

We are going to try and visit a local produce stand on Wednesday and see if we can get some farm fresh corn. If not, we will go for another grocery store visit. We do need to buy the ribs yet anyway.

Apple Pie

4th of July Quarantine Menu - Apple PieI asked if we should have a cherry pie for the color or an apple pie for baseball coming back. Hubby said apple, so I will give this Perfect Apple Pie recipe a try with gluten free flour. I managed to make a decent Gluten Free piecrust, but it still needs a little work to publish a recipe for it.

Leftovers, Salad, or Cornbread?

If we really need anything else to eat, we can break into our leftovers or do what we really should and make a salad. I do have a cornbread mix in the pantry.

Sunday Funday

4th of July Quarantine Menu - Meat and CheeseSunday will mark the last of the holiday weekend. For this, I plan a Charcuterie board. We can snack on this all day and if hungry, have more leftovers. I have bought a few things for this and plan another post around it.

4th of July Quarantine Menu Plan

Are you planning any special menu items for the long holiday weekend? If you needed some ideas, I hope my little list helped. I am getting hungry just thinking about this!

Wishing you a happy, safe 2020 4th of July!!!

Whatever you do, do you!

  1. Hubby wants, hubby gets! Yes, she really is that nice to me! We won’t have family around us but we will have fun.
